This hike was to Bad Dürkheim in Reinland Pfalz in Germany at the end of 2021. First it went uphill through forests and then in a circle back to Bad Dürkheim. In between, some restaurants should actually be open in the summer, but of course everything was closed during our visit. Special highlights were a castle ruin, a monastery ruin and a graduation house.

Winter in 2021 was getting closer and closer and it was once again an opportunity to walk around a bit in beautiful autumnal weather with lots of bright colors. This hike led us again in de area Stromberg in Baden Württemberg in Germany on a route of about 17 km through fields and forest, as always in a circle.
In this video, I go on a hike through the Stromberg region, a hilly area in Baden-Württemberg known for its mixture of forests, vineyards, meadows, and small villages. The Stromberg forms part of the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park, a protected area that combines natural beauty with centuries of human tradition. Hiking here feels like discovering a landscape where culture and nature are woven closely together.

This short hike was an approximately 10km long track around the village Muehlhausen in Baden Wuerttemberg in Germany. The hike was along the river Enz, along old and abandoned vineyards and finally back to the village and along still cultivated vineyards at the end of autumn 2020.

For this hike we went this time to the Black Forest to Neubulach near Bad Liebenzell. Especially in the Black Forest the temperatures were already quite low, but the sun came out and the landscape was not so depressive at the beginning of winter 2020. This time the tour was again about 20 km long, with about 700 m altitude ascent and 700 m descent as a round trip. Basically this tour was very scenic, but the car traffic was very exhausting and needed getting used to because of the high noise level. We did the tour on a Saturday. In the summer on a Sunday it should probably be even more exhausting with all the loud motorcyclists. I would like it to be as quiet as possible and I wouldn’t recommend this again for the summer because of the high noise level.

It is crisis time and normally I would be back in Australia in spring. Since this is not possible at the moment, other activities have to be undertaken. After the 20 km hike through the Taunus Mountains along the Limes, this time I went to Rommersheim in Rhineland Palatinate. Again we went on a round trip, this time surprisingly again through a wine-growing landscape. The area of Rommersheim was already inhabited 2000 years ago and is quite interesting to look at during this 10 km hike.
