After almost 6 months, I was travelling in Australia again. By a lucky coincidence, I ended up back in the Brisbane area of Queensland, more precisely back on the Gold Coast. My first visit was to the hinterland in Lamington National Park, which is situated at an altitude of almost 1000 metres and has the typical rainforest vegetation of the area.

Springbrook National Park is located in Queensland at the Border to New South Wales in Australia. The park is part of the so-called hinterland, i.e. the more mountainous part off the coast of the Gold Coast. The park is at a relatively high altitude, which at first glance doesn’t seem like it. Situated at an altitude of almost 1000 metres, the fauna and flora is very different from the lower areas. The park has a sub-tropical climate and a humid rainforest. There are many streams, rivers and waterfalls in the area. On this tour, I walked an approx. 14 km circular route from the plateau, down into the valley and then up again.

Although I have travelled a lot in Australia, I have never had the opportunity to see anything more of the Sydney area. To close this gap, I got a rental car and drove from Sydney west through the Blue Mountains and further south and back to Sydney. Interestingly enough, this film shows the still very small bush fire in the southwest of Sydney, which later destroyed everything in the area and tortured Sydney with smoke for weeks.
