The journey continued from Anamur in the direction of Antalya. First we visited an old town on the coast near Anamur. The ruins of the city were eaten up quite dramatically by the sea and it was quite clear how it was here 3000 years ago. The entrance fee here was only 2€ and there was no one else on the huge site. Later we were to pay over 20€ for quite pointless stuff. We stopped briefly to have lunch. There was fresh grilled fish and rice. The ride continued at ruins at a small bay. Here someone must have built a villa 2000 years ago which is still clearly recognizable today. Near Antalya we visited another ruined city on a mountain.

Just outside town, Mamure Castle is another highlight. This impressive medieval fortress, with its towers and walls still standing tall, looks like it’s been lifted straight from a fairytale. Walking through its gates and along its ramparts is like stepping back into another era.
Leaving Anamur, the road to Antalya winds dramatically along the Mediterranean, hugging cliffs and mountains that rise steeply from the sea. This is not just a drive – it’s an adventure. The views are spectacular, with turquoise waters stretching endlessly to one side and rugged mountains to the other. Along the way, you’ll pass through countless small villages and towns, each with its own character and charm.
One of the first major stops is Alanya, a lively resort town famous for its sandy beaches, bustling harbor, and impressive fortress. The Alanya Castle, perched on a hilltop, offers sweeping views of the coast and the town below. Nearby, the Red Tower (Kızıl Kule) stands as a symbol of Alanya’s maritime past. Alanya is also a great place to enjoy fresh seafood, explore the bazaar, or take a swim in the clear Mediterranean waters.
Continuing westward, the road passes through smaller coastal towns like Side, a place where history and holiday vibes meet. Side is home to stunning Roman ruins, including a massive theater, temples, and an ancient harbor. Walking through its old streets, lined with ruins and shops, feels like a journey through time. The Temple of Apollo at sunset, with its columns glowing in golden light, is one of the most iconic sights of the Turkish coast.
Further along the route, you’ll encounter Manavgat, known for its river and waterfalls. The Manavgat Waterfall, though not very high, is wide and powerful, surrounded by lush greenery – a refreshing stop before continuing the drive.
As you approach Antalya, the landscape becomes even more dramatic. The road cuts through pine-covered mountains, with the sea still shimmering in the distance. Antalya, the vibrant heart of the Turkish Riviera, is the perfect place to end the road trip. The city’s old town, Kaleiçi, is a maze of narrow cobblestone streets, Ottoman-era houses, and lively cafés. The harbor offers stunning views of cliffs and turquoise waters, while the city itself is full of museums, shops, and cultural attractions.
