After more than two years I was in Sydney again at the beginning of 2022. Unfortunately, rain was announced the whole time during my stay. But that didn’t stop me from taking a short walk of about 20 km from Manly to Taronga Zoo.
The most famous walking route is the path from Bondi Beach to Coogee. I have walked this path many times and wanted to try something less touristy. I was surprised how diverse nature can be on the northern edge of Sydney Bay.
Manly is a seaside suburb located on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour in New South Wales, Australia. Known for its beautiful beaches, outdoor activities, and laid-back atmosphere, Manly is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
One of the main attractions in Manly is its beaches. The most famous of these is Manly Beach, a long stretch of sand that is popular for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing. The beach is also home to a number of beachside cafes, restaurants, and bars, making it a popular spot for a day out. Visitors can also take a walk along the beach promenade, which offers stunning views of the ocean and the city.
Manly is also known for its outdoor activities. The Manly to Spit Bridge Coastal Walk is a popular hike that offers breathtaking views of the harbor and the city. Visitors can also take a ferry to Manly from Circular Quay, which offers stunning views of the harbor and the city. The ferry ride takes around 30 minutes and is a great way to see Sydney from the water.
Manly is also home to a number of parks and gardens, including the Manly Dam Reserve, which offers great hiking and picnicking opportunities. The reserve has picnic tables, BBQ areas and a playground, making it a great spot for a family day out.
The suburb also offers a variety of dining options, from casual beachside cafes to fine dining restaurants. Visitors can find a wide range of cuisines, from seafood to Italian, and everything in between. The Corso, a pedestrian shopping street that runs parallel to the beach is a great spot to find a variety of dining options.
Taronga Zoo is a popular zoo located in the suburb of Mosman, on the shores of Sydney Harbour, Australia. The zoo covers an area of over 28 hectares and is home to over 4,000 animals from around the world.
One of the main attractions of Taronga Zoo is its diverse range of animals. Visitors can see animals from all over the world, including gorillas, elephants, lions, tigers, and koalas. The zoo also has a large collection of Australian wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, and Tasmanian devils.
The zoo also offers a wide range of activities and experiences for visitors. The Taronga Zoo Sky Safari is a cable car that takes visitors on a journey over the zoo and offers stunning views of Sydney Harbour. Visitors can also take a guided tour of the zoo, which offers an in-depth look at the animals and their habitats.
Another popular feature of Taronga Zoo is the zoo’s conservation efforts. The zoo is involved in a number of conservation programs, including breeding endangered species, research, and habitat protection. The zoo also has a number of educational programs for visitors of all ages, including guided tours, wildlife shows, and animal encounters.
