🏰 Obersteinbach Hiking Adventure | Ruins, Rocks & Forest Views

In this video, I go on a hike around Obersteinbach, a small village in the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park in northeastern France. This quiet corner of the North Vosges is known for its sandstone cliffs, dense forests, castle ruins, and peaceful valleys. Hiking here combines natural beauty with history, offering trails that feel both remote and full of stories from the past.

Obersteinbach is a typical Alsatian village, surrounded by green hills and forested slopes. Its location makes it a perfect starting point for hikes into the Vosges du Nord. The area is less crowded than other parts of Alsace, which gives the trails a calm and almost hidden quality. Walking here feels like stepping into a different pace of life, far from busy towns and cities.

🌊 Along the Rhine | Hiking Trails Near Hördt, Germany

In the third year of the crisis and in early January 2022, we finally went on a little hike again. The route was again around 16 km and this time took us along the upper Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. Actually, January is pretty much the worst time of year to be outside, but still better than being inside when the weather is reasonably good, that is when it’s not raining. The temperature was also hovering around freezing and we were again pretty much the only people out on Saturday. In the end we moved around the forests and bats and along the Rhine near Hördt in Germany in Rheinland Pfalz.

🌾 Fields, Vines & Forest Paths | A Walk Around Oberderdingen

This hike took place on the edge of the Stromberg/Heuchelberg Nature Park in Baden-Wuerttemberg in Germany in the spring of 2021 around the village of Oberderdingen. The hike was first through the forests of the Stromberg, then through a quite hidden valley with vineyards, further over quite open fields and finally the last part through the forest again. Unfortunately, it was relatively cold and windy that day, but nevertheless the route was well worth seeing.

⛰️ Sandstone & Forest Trails | Hiking Around Oberschlettenbach

On this hike we went once again to the Palatinate Forest in Rhineland-Palatinate. The distance was in 20 km with an altitude gain of 900m. In total, we needed in December 2020 for this the whole day from early 0900 to sunset at about 1600. Like all routes so far in the Palatinate Forest, this route is also highly recommended. However, we had the special circumstance with much fog. For me personally, that was not dramatic at all, but just something else. This had led to an extremely different mood, precisely because there was no noise anywhere.
