2012 China – Intro

Travelogue of a 2000 km tour through China in May-June 2012. Due to a business stay I had some days to travel around in China with starting point Dalian. The question arose at the beginning, where to go and what is feasible in which time. Originally the route was supposed to run further west, but was discarded due to lack of time. A detour to inner Mongolia was also rejected, as the return would have to take place on the same route. So I decided for maximum day trips of about 300 – 500 km with the destination Shanghai in nine days.

2012 China – Day 4 – 03.06.2012 – Jinan

The AC had worked diligently and quietly during the night. I only notice it early when I open the door to the corridor, how big the difference is between inside and outside. There was almost nothing going on on the streets. I drank some cappu and walked about 30 minutes before the train should leave for the station. As always everything was covered in a loose fog, where you could see about 5km far. The fog was certainly mixed with smog, but I couldn’t tell the difference. After the absolutely senseless scanning of the luggage and the beeping of the metal detector I went into the again gigantic departure hall and sat down to the correct gate.

2011 Morocco – Day 11 – Zagora / Mhamid

I got up again around 0800. The night had become quite cold, especially in a room where there was no heating. I hadn’t really expected that. In the quite clear hotel was already quite a lot going on and the noise from inside came to that from outside still in addition. First I checked out again at the old slow Zausel at the reception and went a few meters to the left of the Royal to have the usual breakfast. Strong milky coffee fairy with an omelette. While I sat there comfortably at the street and looked around with cigarettes and coffee in the area I saw opposite a car rental, which brought me on the thought to ask nevertheless times for the prices.

2011 Morocco – Day 13 – Boumalne / Ouarzazate

Around 0700 I drove again in the direction of Ourzazate to be there on time 1000. On the right I saw the Atlas with its snow covered peaks far away from the road. Everything which is green here, has its cause in the glacier streams and the melt water after the snow melt. It must be quite large floods, which pour out then in the direction of Sahara. The Draa flows into the Atlantic again after a turn, the rest seeps into the desert. Before I could drive off, a guy from the shop under the hotel 20dh coaxed me out of his car on the grounds that he had been looking after the car all night. I didn’t believe that, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the whole hotel. So I gave it to him and made off.
