2015 Morocco – Day 9 – Ouarzazate / Mhamid

The night at Hotel Nadia was quite strange. Maybe that was due to the shabby equipment of the room. Somehow there were bedbugs. We drove into the center on the main road, which was called Mohammed V or something like that, as always, directly at the Hotel Royal. Next to the hotel there was a coffee where we had breakfast. We sat down, ordered and somehow waited forever. Such an Omlette and, coffee is now no witchcraft and guests were also hardly there. Finally I had to go in later to pay to speed up the whole thing. Somehow I could not find any pictures of the third day in Sydney and also of the fourth day none. Probably there were no pictures. On the third day in Sydney we had met at the university for lunch with the group.

2015 Morocco – Day 10 – Mhamid / Merzouga

This time we got up even earlier than usual. Overnight it was really cool in the room. Unfortunately there was no hot water and the toilet had to be flushed with a bucket. Overnight I had to suffer again attacks of bedbugs, which bit me this time clearly. That clouded this actually great hotel a little bit. The day before I had to drive the car next door into a lockable parking lot, although I insisted to leave it at the road. When we were finished there was of course nobody to be seen. We went to the locked gate and I tried to get it open somehow when a hotel hiwi arrived and opened the gate. I was waiting for him to want a dollar, but he did not. So I gave him 20 Dh for the tea from the day before and we left again towards Zagora, because we still had a good distance to Merzouga.

2015 Morocco – Day 11 – Merzouga

When I finished with the morning toilet the food was already served in the large lounge, which was comfortably equipped with armchairs and sofas. There was jam and for me of course Omlette Frommage. As far as I can remember this was a variant where the triangular cheese was delivered extra. Of course there was also coffee, which meant a very relaxed morning. In the room it was also quite cool and I admired again the effectiveness of the classical clay architecture. After dinner we decided to climb the dune again. So we got ready, which meant that I put a T-shirt in front of my mouth and a hooded jacket over my head. M. took a hat and swimming goggles.

2015 Morocco – Day 12 – Merzouga / Ait Ibriren (Dades Gorge)

After breakfast we paid our bill and set off towards Dades Gorge. After careful consideration from the evening before, this was the only remaining option. To drive back on the same route would be the last option. After Fes and then further along the Atlantic back to Marrakech it didn’t promise to be very great, because Fes is possibly worse than ales Marrakech as far as the annoying people are concerned and we were of the opinion that we didn’t want to see a city that would also be similar to Marrakech. Between Fez and Marrakech there would have been nothing to see according to our information. Sure there would have been a lot to see on the route, but we had no information.
